MonteVetro, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin.Back To Projects

Architect: DEGW UK Ltd.
Quantity Surveyor: Bruce Shaw Partnership
Main Contractor: John Sisk & Son

Description:

Montevetro is conceived as a dramatic landmark at the gateway to the Dublin Docklands. It will be one of the tallest buildings in Dublin City, in line with the planning policy of encouraging higher density development close to strategic public transport corridors.

The development required 2,000 sq. ms of unitised glazing. The unitised systems for MonteVetro presented exciting challenges for Williaam Cox from a design and manufacture point of view, incorporating many different elements, glass, stone, stainless steel and powder coated panels, feature channels and louvers. These different substrates were accommodated in a be-spoke facade system using a series of pneumatic seals to replace the need for DPC interfacing, thus creating a universal seal between the different facade interfaces, while far exceeding the CWCT & BS weathering standards required for the building.

The lower ground floors of the building has been designed for curtain wall glazing throughout, creating a vital selling window for the building’s restaurant and retail clients as well at the building’s main reception area.

Montevetro is Dublin’s tallest office building with prime office space over 15 floors with supporting retail and café restaurant facilities on the lower ground floor level. The name MonteVetro is derived from the Italian language meaning “Mountain of Glass” which is truly reflected by the spectacular elevations clad with our unitised panel facade system.
