Smoke Curtains and Smoke (Channelling) Screens

Smoke Curtains and Smoke (Channelling) Screens (also known as balcony edge screen or downstand) are used to compartmentalise different parts of a building. They contain smoke and limit smoke travel from the fire source. Preventing fire from spreading to other areas. COXDOME Smoke Screens and Curtains are tested to and exceed the requirements of BS 746 -Part 1- and BS 476 -Part 20-.

As part of our smoke ventilation package we provide smoke and heat ventilation compartment screens (fixed and automatic).

Smoke curtains (as part of a smoke and heat ventilation system compartment screens) may be required to form part of the reservoir boundary or to limit smoke travel from the fire source. Fixed smoke curtains are commonly used in the roof space of either large single storey buildings, or above false ceilings in commercial and retail premises.

Specifications:

Our smoke curtains are manufactured from a polyurethane coated glass fibre woven cloth or fabricated glass. This cloth has a class 1 surface spread of flame rating. The fabric has been tested to and exceeds the requirements of BS 7346 Part 1 and BS 476 Part 20. When installing a fixed smoke curtain it is important that the curtain is sealed to the building where practicable. All penetrations through a fixed curtain should be sealed.
